SWAP is able to help local people
through your registration fees, and also through donations of materials and supplies. These donations are extremely valuable in keeping our costs down.
- Perhaps a business in your area would be willing to donate mis-matched latex paint, seconds, or damaged building materials, etc.
- Or perhaps your group could organize a “donate to SWAP” box for people who would like to participate, but aren’t able to come on the mission trip.
Here are some of our ministry needs for 2008:
To supply our volunteer groups:
- Tarps – various sizes especially large, 30x30
- 18 volt cordless drills
- 6’ to 8’ medium to heavy duty step ladders
- Collapsible saw horses-aluminum
- 50'-100' extension cords-medium (14 gauge), heavy (12 gauge)
- Screwdriver bits - T25 (longer length)
- Cord Reels
- 1/4" hex driver bits
- 7 1/4” circular saw blades
- Reciprocating saw blades-wood/metal
- Interior and exterior white latex paint
To supply our construction tool boxes:
- Channel-lock pliers
- Flaring tool for copper tubing
- Stud sensors
To supply our trucks:
- Pull-tight lashing straps
- Ratchet tie-down straps
To provide for safety:
- Fire extinguishers
- Smoke detectors/ CO2 detectors w/ batteries (to be installed in homes)
- Dust masks
- Safety glasses
To minimize jobsite costs:
- New or slightly used thermopane windows
- New or slightly used cabinets
- New kitchen faucets
- 8- and 16-penny nails
- 2" - 3" exterior screws (square or star head)
To help local children in low-income families:
- Baby clothes (new or like-new condition)
- Socks and underwear for children (new only)
- Children's clothing (new only)
- Children's videos, rated "P" or "PG" (New or used in good condition)
- School supplies
